What is your name and what city do you rep?

My Name is J.Haskin, I live in North Carolina but im originally from Detroit.

What is unique about you and your music?

My music comes from the heart. I just don't rap to rap. I try to make sure I say something with some substance that you can remember. I put my real life experiences in my music I feel that is what connects to people who support because they can relate to it. I do music for different reasons then a lot of artist. I know most artist are doing music for fame, money, females etc. but i'm doing music because it is therapeutic for me. It's my outlet to express. Even though I would love the things that other artist strive for, that is not my main motivation.

What shaped your music?

I feel like going through life shaped my music. When I first decided I was going to get into rap, I use to just make beats first. I wasn't that good at rapping. I didn't have my confidence up with it and I didn't experience enough life yet to be able to convey my story. As time went on I went through a lot of adversities just growing up as black male in society and I started putting my experiences in my music. It became easier too make songs because I just talk about what I had been through. When you are young, you are still innocent and naive to the world, its hard to rap with some substance because you haven't really lived.

What type of music do you listen to?

All types but mainly rap, 90s r&b, old school music.

Who, to you, is the most undervalued music artist?

Im not sure I know a lot of talented artist who dont get the proper exposure. I feel like thats what holds talented artist back.

How do you prepare for your performances?

I go over my songs over and over in my head and perform them at home.

What ignites your (song) writing flow?

I have to be inspired by the beat. The beat has to make feel something.

What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?

have my own clothing line CGC Clothing. (CGCCLOTHING ON INSTAGRAM) I plan to make it become an important brand in the industry.

Success to you is…

doing what you love, and having a peace of mind.

What do you wish you were told when you first started rapping that you think would help artists starting out?

Dont worry about what someone elses is doing, do you.
